Mas boots in Toronto

I love mas boots but this year I have opted to go with the sneaker option, however these are some boots available for those of you living in Toronto. The supplier visits Trinidad every Easter for 2-3 weeks, he can take measurements then and Fedex or deliver later. They are beautiful. They are priced at 100 to $150 CAD. The contact number for the supplier is 416 524 1782 ask for Anton. OMG!! I am loving them, they are so neatly made.

Well I can share some info that I got from Natalie; she said when direct sun hits the boots it does get hot. If you are standing in the shade or among the crowd of people in the section it is fine.

buublenut they are expensive, I am paying $300.00TT for my decorated boots by Natalie and these would cost me $560.00TT ($100.00 CAD). I wonder if he is decorating them ?

The boots are 100% leather, hand cut & custom fit. Sizes up to 10 female average $100 Canadian$
Leather breathes unlike leatherette
so they should not be any hotter in the direct sunlight. They can also be sprayed & re-sprayed any colour including the metallic tones

150 cdn is like 780 TT at 5.2 exchange - hmm i can almost rent a car in TnT for a week at that price :)

bubblenut you can be a tester of a sample pair if you wish to provide some measurements & a foot print in time for Caribana 07.

$150 is not unreasonable for 100% leather boots, custom made to measure.
At the same time you have to ask, do you really need custom made boots. For $150 Canadian you can score some really nice boots or the latest mid cut pumas or nikes, which would may not look as nice as traditional mas boots, but would be really comfortable

For leather boots I guess the price is not bad at all.

As for the decorations on Natalie's boots, depending on your boots are decorated you can remove the decorations and re-use the boots the following year. That's what I plan to do with mines anway!

sure anon - perhaps I could pull them off in Toronto Carnival but don't think my feet could handle boots in TnT - if I could I would wear flip flops on the road so my feet could breath :)

buublenut-the socks you wear with boots must also breathe, I found a mix of orlon & cotton thick padded socks work well by keeping your toes dry. Works for me.Approx $9CAD a pair.

i like them plain also...
for me boots look better with a costume than sneakers. High heels even better, but that is for true diva's like Wendy Fitzwilliams.

Yeah boots give custume that extra veteran look!!, but saucy yuh doh think u might destroy the boots by taking off the decorations?

As an ardent masquerader, there is no question that boots always enhance and complete a costume. On the other hand, costume and sneakers to me is like a bride or groom dressed in bridal gown or suit wearing sneakers? Boots accentuate the costume – Get the drift? A true masquerader will agree that a comfortable pair of boots is the answer. When I take a photo or video of a masquerader with sneakers, I capture from the knees up – no sneakers thank you!!!!
